Purpose:
The Block-Kids Building Program is a national building program competition that is sponsored on the local level by NAWIC chapters and other organizations. The award winning program introduces children to the construction industry in an effort to create an awareness of and to promote an interest in future careers in one of the many facets of the industry. The program is open to all elementary school children in grades 1- 6. The competition involves the construction of various structures with interlocking blocks and three of the following additional items: a small rock, string, foil, and poster board. Local winners advance to Regional competition, and one semi-finalist from each region is entered at the national level.

Block Kids Competition: February 5, 2005
Many members of our chapter helped to make our 4th annual Block Kids Competition a big success. We had 24 entrants, our biggest turnout ever! It was held at the Sand Creek branch of the Pikes Peak Library District on Saturday, February 5, 2005. Ten prizes were awarded to the winners, 5 in each division.

David Walch had the highest score overall. Pictures of his "Experimental Laboratory on an Island"  were sent to be judged in the Regional Competition.

Special thanks to the many members, spouses, friends and families for helping to make this year's competition such a "building" success.
